Radium Girls is based on true events, teenage sisters Bessie and Jo paint glow-in-the- dark
watch dials at the American Radium Factory in 1920s New Jersey. When girls at the factory
mysteriously begin to fall ill, Bessie uncovers a corporate scandal and fights back in a radical

Volunteer Opportunities

"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much."

The LaSalle County Historical Society could not accomplish everything we do without the help of our many volunteers! Volunteers are our bloodline and what keeps our museum campus up and running.
We are looking for all types of volunteers; whether it be donating some time to become a docent at one of our museum complexes, collections assistance, helping with our 4th Grade School Program, volunteering a special skill (basket weaving, pottery, looming, etc) we would like your help. Anyone can volunteer!!! Service hours are awarded for your volunteer time at the museum.

LOCAL HISTORY PROJECT

As stated by Theodore Roosevelt, “The more you know from your past, the better prepared you are for the future.”  With the unprecedented closure of many schools and businesses the LaSalle County Historical Society would love for you to take advantage of your isolation with a local history project.  History is told from generation to generation and with each passing generation valuable information is lost.  Taking time to sit down with a member of an older generation will not only help the LaSalle County Historical Society to record the experiences, times, and tribulations of our older generations, but will also help in a time where that same older generation is in need of communication and attention due to their isolated state.  With your help we will be able to record this valuable information to help with our further research with topics important to our local history.

This program is made possible in part by a grant from Illinois Humanities, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Illinois General Assembly.
